Longest span - Paul B. Elvström (Denmark; b. 25 Feb 1928) is one of only four men to have competed in the Olympics over a span of 40 years. He first competed at yachting in the 1948 Games and made a record seventh Games appearance at Seoul in 1988. He also won a record four consecutive individual titles at Olympic monotype yachting, 1948-60. Here he can be seen with his daughter, Trine (b. 6 Mar 1962), who also represented Denmark in yachting at the 1988 Olympics. (Photo: Per Kjarbye)
